Durham Labour Left Conference

Durham Labour Left, a group of democratic socialists based in the north east, is organising a regional conference for local Labour Party members on Sunday 21 October.

Designed to give members an opportunity to discuss how to develop the left in local areas, ‘Organising the Labour Left’ will be addressed by Angela Hankin, the chair of Durham City Constituency Labour Party, plus DLL founder members Chris Turner, Adrian Hedley and Brenda Stephenson.

The afternoon conference will be held at Durham Miners’ Hall on Redhills.

Attendance is free but members need to register via Eventbrite where the full programme, directions and conference details are available.

    I attended some of the conference on Sunday and it seems that from the outset the original organisers in City of Durham CLP decided not to use the Momentum ‘brand’ as they thought it would put some potential supporters off, and I think they made the right call.

    Here is a link to Durham Labour Left on Twitter. How do they differ from Momentum? If they adopt a similar stance, then why are they not called Durham Momentum?

    Perhaps there is also a different source to the following to tell us who they are. Do we need similar bodies such as Derbyshire Labour Left?
