ILP Friends

There is a great deal of scepticism towards all forms of politics, including ours. Many people are wary of political organisations and are cautious about being duped or used — often with good reason.

Yet, at the same time, people express the need to relate to others in some way. They want links to people with whom they feel something in common, the chance to share ideas and experiences, and to belong to a caring community.

The ILP comes from a long tradition of left wing organisations that have sought collective solutions to the inequalities and destruction caused by capitalism. We seek to continue that tradition today, to extend co-operative solutions to human problems by democratic means.

In seeking social justice and equality we set our sights high. We believe it is possible to improve the quality of life for many, not just the few; that a humane society is possible.

Ours is a damaged and unbalanced society, the outcome of how our world is organised and a product, ultimately, of the political choices made.

The development of broadly based political and moral movements for change is a key element in challenging the status quo, together with a radical and innovative Labour Party which seeks to connect with a wide section of society.
