The campaign group Compass has teamed up with the Progressive Economic Forum to host its annual ‘Change’ conference in London on Saturday 30 May, a day of “debate, disagreement and deliberation between progressives of all parties (and none!)”.

Entitled ‘Change: NOW! Mobilising the Progressive Majority’, the event will feature headline speakers such as Andy Burnham and Caroline Lucas among many others, and focus on policies “to reset our economy”, as well as the political and cultural changes we need to bring about those policies”.

“Through establishing consensus on political strategy and economic direction – and highlighting the important differences in detail across progressive parties and the wider movement – this event will be the catalyst for the change our country so desperately needs,” say Compass.

Last year’s conference, ‘Change: HOW? A Decade of Radical Renewal’, attracted more than 450 “progressive pioneers” as it aimed to re-orient the Labour government’s promise of a “decade of national renewal”. It garnered national headlines thanks to keynote speeches from Labour politicians such as Burnham and Louise Haigh, and prompted Compass to work more closely on the Labour Party and help set up Labour Mainstream.

“This was an amazingly successful day and a springboard for our work in the Labour Party to get organised, energised and mobilised,” say Compass.

“But the past year has proven one thing above all else: the need for an organised progressive agenda across parties and movements, the relationships to make that agenda happen, and the urgency of making change.”

‘Change: NOW’ will take place at Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6LA. Tickets cost £40 and £20 concessions.
