Defeating the Narratives of Division

Saturday 7 June

The Ella Baker School of Organising is holding a national one-day conference in London on Saturday 7 June to explore how to defeat what it calls the “narratives of division” fostered by “politicians who see Donald Trump as a role model”.

The event is designed to be “intersectional and inclusive, action-oriented, open to many voices, curious, educational, and participatory”.

“We are determined to bring together people from faith, trade union, race equality, LGBTQ+, disabled and women’s organisations, as well as people from the democracy sector and the traditional anti-fascist movement,” say the organisers.

“With less than four years to the most likely date of the next general election we want to develop an action plan to ensure our people don’t make the mistake of believing that their best hope comes from politicians who see Donald Trump as a role model.”

Places will be limited and allocated partly to meet the aim of “convening a genuine mix of experiences and perspectives” from “representatives of every community impacted by narratives of division, as well as those within the grassroots and leadership of our movement”.

Applying early. is essential, say the organisers, although the event will be the first in a series and everyone who applies will be able to participate in the discussion in one form or another.
