The Co-operative Party is calling for supporters to sign an online thank you card to workers in shops, supermarkets and on the food supply chain during the coronavirus pandemic.
“They have been under unprecedented pressure and they’ve dealt with it calmly and with determination,” said the Party’s Communications Officer, Georgia O’Brien.
“They’re still facing a tough job keeping our country fed and supplied, and they deserve our gratitude.”
The card allows you to add a personal message of thanks which will be shared on social media.
“In these difficult times, these simple acts of gratitude can mean everything to those involved,” said O’Brien.
“We’ve always backed shopworkers – from proposing bills to protect them from violence to fighting to give them a say and stake in their workplace – and they will always have our thanks and support.
“We won’t forget their hard work during this crisis, now or in the future.”
The Co-op Party is also holding a series of online talks called Co-operation Live during the crisis to address how co-operators can respond to the pandemic, as well as other issues.
